Do you like snowfall? And want to see snow in Mcleodganj, Dharamshala? In this post, I am going to tell you about the best time to see the snowfall in Mcleodganj and Dharamshala.

December Mid to January is the best time to witness snowfall in the Mcleodganj, but you have to keep this in mind that there are no specific dates; it all depends on the weather conditions. Also, Mcleodganj gets less snowfall than the higher altitude areas like Triund, Kareri Village, etc.
This year in 2020, there was very less snowfall even in the higher altitude areas, so if you want to enjoy the snowfall, then I will suggest visiting the higher altitude areas.
Best Places Near Mcleodganj To Enjoy Snowfall
1. Triund
Triund really gets heavy snowfall, but there is a very limited no of stays. During snowfall, camping is not possible, so the best option is to book the forest guest house situated on the Triund Top.

2. Ilaka Glacier
This is the place where you will witness snow throughout the year, so you can imagine how much snowfall this place will get. I am not sure whether you can find a stay in the Ilaka Glacier during the winter peak months, but you can come here to enjoy the snow.

3. Kareri Village
This is my favorite place near Mcleodganj because it’s peaceful, beautiful, and situated at a higher altitude. The Kareri village gets heavy snowfall and the perfect location to stay during winter peak months. There are many homestays where you can comfortably stay and enjoy homemade food.

4. Kareri Lake
If you are really good at trekking and want to do something exciting, then you can consider tracking Kareri Lake during the snowfall period. In winter Kareri Lake stay frozen. During this period, you can not camp on Kareri Lake, but you can trek there and stay at Rioti Village, which is around 7 Km before Kareri Lake.
