Triund is one of the easiest and famous treks in Mcleodganj Himachal Pradesh. You can complete the trek within 3 to 4 hours, depending on your hiking capacity.
But there are few things you should keep in mind if you are going to Triund for the first time.
1. Water Bottle
There is no source of natural water on the way to Triund or on the top of Triund. So you have to depend on Bottled water. On the Triund the cost for one bottle of water will be 50 to 60 rupees, so it will be better if you carry some water bottle in advance with you. Especially if you are going in a group, then you can easily carry water bottles in advance.
Like water bottles, you have to pay way more price for chips, cold drinks, biscuits, etc. I didn’t buy any snacks there, but I am aware of it as I spend two days there. So it will be really good for you if you buy snacks and chocolate in advance from the Macleodganj at MRP.
There are one of two Washrooms on the Triund, but when I was there, they were not functioning. Some peoples stated that most of the time they don’t work. So you have to go to the Toilet in the open.
If you are pre-booking camps in advance from Macleodganj or Dharamkot, then tell them to arrange a portable Toilet. I see many camp providers were providing portable washrooms to their customers.
If you don’t ask them in the beginning for the Portable Toilet, then there are huge chances they are not gonna provide you on the top. So ask them in the beginning for a portable Toilet, especially if there are any girls with you.
Most of the Travel Agency will tell you that you will not get camps to stay on the top, but there is nothing like that. There is plenty of space and camps. So if you are going Triund without any pre-booking, then there is no need to worry.
If there is no place to stay on Triund, then you can go to Kanthari (1 to 2 Km down from Triund), or Triund Snowline (3 to 4 Km) forward from Triund.
Triund is one of the easiest treks in the Himachal as compared to the other treks. You can reach the Triund by yourself; you don’t need any guide. If anyone tells you that you can’t reach Triund by yourself, then he/she doesn’t know anything.
6. Gallu Devi Vs. Bhagsu Nag Temple Route:
There are two ways to reach Triund, one from Gallu Devi Temple and the second from Bhagsu Nag Waterfall.
If you are doing the trek for the first time, then I will suggest you take the Gallu Devi Temple route as it’s a little easy in comparison to the Bhagsu Nag route.
If you are an advanced trekker and looking for a little challenging way to reach Triund, then you can take the Bahgsu Nag WaterFall route.
7. Triund Top Vs. Snow Line
Triund Top and Triund Snow line are two different places. During summer, you will find no snow on the Triund.
If you want to see the snow on the Triund, then you have to go to the Triund Snow Line, which is around 3 to 4 Km from the Triund.
You can easily reach there by 1 to 2 hours of hike. Just follow the path forward from the Triund to reach the Snow Line, or just ask anybody around you.
